Introducing Baby William

Amy and Chris finally introduced us to baby William. Just after being born the family was transferred to Switzerland and have been adjusting to life in Europe. Amy gave us a heads up that they were to be back in the states this week and scheduled them in for the new family session. William was fantastic to work with and we certainly look forward to watching him grow. The Texas flag that he is photographed with was flown at the state capital on the day he was born.

Emma and Ryan

Emma and Ryan are siblings. One boy, one girl, 7 years apart. Ryan is starting kindergarten this year and Emma is in 7th grade and it was so fun to photograph them. They have totally different personalities. Ryan is a total ham, while Emma is a little more reserved (but gorgeous!). The task at hand was to get them to come together and still show what great personalities they have separately and together. I really had a great time doing this session!

DayJams 2010 – Session 1

So this summer, like last, I did photos for DayJams. DayJams is a School of Rock sort of band camp. The kids are put into groups/bands where they are given instrument lessons, they practice together, write their own songs, design their own CD and T- shirts and all kinds of awesome stuff. My daughter Maddie has gone for the past few years and LOVES it. Here are some photos from the first session and I will post some from the second session in another post. Rock on!

Katya + Alexei

Katya and Alexei have been married for 10 years and wanted to capture some images of themselves as a treat. We went first to the Black Lab pub, because they have a giant chess set why else?) and then we headed over to the Menil, which is one of my favorite areas to shoot for some reason. It was pretty warm out that day but I think we managed to get some great photos of the two of them together.

Veritas Company Party

This past Saturday I got to photograph a very unique event at the Houston Arboretum that was put together by Kat Creech of Enjoy Events. This was a company picnic for the families of CGG Veritas and it was made to be a environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible. There were carnival games for the kids, crafts, a zip line, face painters, a clown, balloon artists, a zip line, ice cream ( with SOOOO many toppings), fresh homemade fruit spritzers (with Tito’s vodka if that was your preference), handcrafted fruit lemonade, a hayride and so much more. All of the utensils and plates and cups were either compostable or recyclable. None of the treats had high fructose corn syrup. Even the table centerpieces were sustainable as they were plants, ready to be taken home for the garden. The whole event was emceed by the wonderful Joe Zuniga of Impressive Events. It really was a great way to say goodbye to summer and get ready for fall.

Events in Bloom at Weddings in Houston Vendor party

Weddings in Houston magazine hosts an annual vendor appreciation party every year to thank all of their wonderful advertisers. For several years now the party has been held at the beautiful Le Grand Salon at La Colombe d’Or and all of the decor was done by Events in Bloom. Looks gorgeous, doesn’t it?!

Events in Bloom – 80th birthday party

Recently, Laura was asked to cover our friend Rob’s mother’s 80th birthday celebration held at Cullen’s Upscale American Cuisine. Rob is one of our favorite wedding vendors and owns the floral and design company Events in Bloom. It was a great time and his family is so gracious and sweet! There were also some beautiful decorations as one can only expect and imagine when it comes from Rob.

How did you get into the wedding/event business? – answered by Keely Thorne
Event planning has always been in my blood. Growing up my mom would throw very lavish themed birthday and holiday parties where we truly got to be
creative and think outside the box on the décor, food, favors and whatever else we could dream up. She was so creative and resourceful in pulling it
all together and I was always amazed at how calm and collected she would remain as she put together what I could only summarize as a child as magic!
That passion kept with me through college where I was very involved in Greek life and planning events for my sorority and school. Weddings were obviously
a new venture after planning my own destination wedding in 2005 in the Bahamas. I knew from the moment I started planning my own big day that I
wanted nothing more than to do the same for others. Once the festivities for my own wedding were finished I was so fortunate to find a wonderful team of
young professionals here in Houston to get my start in the business and that passion for planning events has continued to grow every since!

What inspires you? – answered by Emily Moise
My clients inspire me the most. Each couple is so different that it keeps my creativity following in all directions. From ballroom weddings to farm
weddings to everything in between, there is a constant flow of inspiration to make every event unique for my clients.

What wedding trends do you see coming to the Houston market? – answered by Kristin McShane
We are always looking for ways to personalize each clients wedding, so the main trends I see coming to Houston help to accomplish this. Companies
are really expanding their rental departments with amazing options to incorporating different pieces of furniture into receptions. Also, everyone
is getting more creative with their music selections and bringing in bands from all over the nation rather than just sticking close to home. Custom
stationary is also something more of our clients are doing. From save-the-dates to welcome boxes, everyone wants to put their own spin on the
original.

How do you think Houston is different than other markets around the country? – answered by Allison Lowrance
Houston is unique in its market because it truly does provide so many options for today’s bride. Besides having tremendous vendors who each have
their own unique style, there are so many different venue options to choose from. Where else can you have a chic beach wedding, a ranch wedding or a
modern downtown wedding in one city? Whether you are the modern bride or the traditional bride Houston provides so many options to make your big day
uniquely, you!

Best thing about having a wedding in Houston? – answered by Kristin Cogan
There are so many wonderful things about having a wedding in Houston! We are the fourth largest wedding market in the nation which means brides have
access to very talented vendors to fit any budget. Houston and the surrounding areas offer numerous venues for brides to choose from whether
they are looking for a ranch wedding, beach ceremony, modern museum reception, or a traditional ballroom. With the exception of the summer
months, the weather in Houston is fairly mild so brides looking for an outdoor ceremony or reception can feel confident in their decision.
